The Service Complaints Ombudsman’s office will be closed from Monday 23rd December 2019 at 5 pm until Thursday 2nd January 2020 at 9 am (inclusive). You can still submit enquiries and/or applications to our contact mailbox during this period. However, they won’t be actioned until the office reopens on Thursday 2nd January 2020.

Backlog Update

As of 29 November 2019, we had  62 unallocated substance and maladministration cases, a decrease of 18 cases from last month. It is taking us 16 months to allocate a case which is also a slight improvement but still a long way from where we want it to be. The two agency staff have now joined the team and we are hoping two permanent staff will be joining us in the new year. The team are working hard to reduce the delays further and we encourage you to make an application to our office if you think we may be able to help you. It is important that you make an application to us within the 6-week timeline which is set out in law, otherwise, we may not be able to look at your case.
