How the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak is impacting our service

These are worrying times, and we have no way of knowing how long this situation will last. The government guidance for organisations to work remotely is a significant change, but at SCOAF, we are doing our best to operate as normal in the current circumstances.

Our focus remains on providing independent and impartial oversight of the internal workplace grievance system for Service personnel by making referrals, conducting investigations and reporting on the system as a whole. As a result, we have temporarily changed the way we work to provide minimal disruption as possible.

Office Hours

We aim to respond to all contacts within 2 working days.

Please note: we are not able to retrieve SMS messages sent to our contact number.

Please do not send us post at this time because SCOAF staff are working remotely so we cannot access anything sent to our office. Once it’s safe for staff to return to the office, the post will be processed. If you’ve recently sent an application form or documents to support your complaint by post, please resubmit it by email to our contact mailbox: contact@scoaf.org.uk.

We are still accepting new applications to our office for:

·        Referral

·        Review of an Admissibility Decision

·        Investigation of Undue Delay

·        Investigation of Maladministration and/or Substance

Existing applications

We are continuing to process applications as usual, but it may take us longer to process applications for investigation. This is because there may be delayed responses to requests for information or comments on findings from all parties involved in the case, such as the single Service Secretariat who may not have access to resources because they are working remotely.

If there is a delay, we will provide you with regular updates on the status of your application, including a revised timeline for the allocation of an investigator, the reason for the delay and subsequent completion of any investigation.

We will keep this situation under regular review. Please continue to check the latest news on our website or follow us on Twitter (@SCOAF_UK) for further updates.

Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times.
