October 2018 Backlog Update

Published
30 Oct 2018

As of 30 October we have 141 substance and maladministration cases that are waiting to be allocated to an investigator. This is regrettably another increase on last month. The oldest of these was received in November 2017. Our Investigator Support Officer is continuing to provide regular updates to all of these complainants.

A new Senior Investigator is due to join us this week to start their training. The recruitment of two further Senior Investigators is progressing and we hope to have some good news next month.  We have been able to increase the number of Fee Earner Investigators to a total of four. Despite the steps forward in the recruitment of new staff we are conscious that it is still not enough to reduce our backlog of cases. We are trying to explore other ways to manage the workload.

Despite the continuing backlog we encourage you to make an application to us if you believe there was something wrong with the way one of the Services handled your complaint and/or you believe an incorrect decision was made.
